Active RF Tag in Key FOB?...

Hi,

I have a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

To open the car door (locked), I simply grab the handle
and the door unlocks then opens with the Key FOB in my
pocket.

The Key FOB has buttons that include Unlock. If I press this button,
the Key FOB would transmit a coded signal in UHF band to the Jeep.

I assume because I am NOT pressing any buttons, my Jeep transmits a signal
(perhaps in short bursts) and my Key FOB responds by indicating it\'s presence?

Can someone clarify this?

Thank You in advance, John

No, Justine, I can\'t clarify this as I don\'t have a Jeep.... but I\'d
have to ask \'What happens if the Key Fob is some distance away and you
\"simply grab the handle\"??\'.

Hopefully the car doesn\'t unlock!! ;-)

Hi,

Good question. I have already tried that. I left the FOB in the
house, went out to the Jeep, but I could NOT open the locked door.

Ah!! Good.

The alternative would leave your vehicle accessible to any Tom, Dick or
Harriette!! ;-P

That\'s because you didn\'t use one of these:
